FAMILY READING NIGHT

On Wednesday, May 6th, the Citron Parent Association will host our Annual Family Reading Night from 5:30pm to 6:30pm.  Everyone is invited to come in their pyjamas and enjoy a night of family fun.  This event is held in conjunction with our Spring Book Fair.  The theme of this year's fair is "Super Heroes".  The Parents will provide  cookies, milk or juice as refreshments. Mrs. Sandy Cosgrove (Fairmont's Education Director) will begin the evening by reading to the group.  This will be followed by family reading time and end with a drawing for children's books generously donated by the Parent Association.

The Spirit of Giving

Teaching  Children the  Pleasure of  Giving

As we enter the "giving" season it is important for our students to realize that there are a lot of people in this world that need help.  Moms and Dads often struggle with how best to instill compassion in their children and the importance of giving back.  Chances to teach by doing may take a little creativity and perseverance but there are many opportunities.  Children have a natural instinct to help.  I think they can learn that they can make a difference and that they can relate to others who don't have the same advantages in life that they do. Although volunteering isn't really an option for younger children, below you will find a list of activities to expose them to the idea of giving.

Have them clean out their closet and give their clothes, books, old DVDs etc. to a less fortunate child.

Have your child accompany you while you pick up the mail for a neighbor who is sick, or out of town.

There are many families who will not have the opportunity to celebrate this holiday. Your family can make a difference by delivering a tree, providing dinner, or assembling care packages.

Make holiday cards for children who are sick in hospital.

Bake cookies and deliver them to a neighbor.

Have your child pick out a toy for the Choc Toy Drive box at school.

Donate one item off a Christmas Wish List to a less fortunate child.

We want to thank you for your generosity and continued support of our Campus.  We wish everyone a wonderful winter holiday season and a prosperous New Year.

Citron Students Go to the Polls

The children at the Citron Campus went to the polls on November 4th.  Booths were set up by parent volunteers and the Campus was decorated in traditional red, white and blue.  The candidates running for election were donuts and ice-cream.  It was a tough and close-fought race but ended up with a victory for ice-cream.

SUMMER DAYS AT CITRON

It is hard to believe we are in Week 3 week of the Summer program.   School and Camp are in full swing and our newcomers are settling in nicely.  Campers are enjoying the many and varied activities based on this year's theme "Space".  Interspersed with swimming on Wednesdays and special activities on Fridays, the days pass all too quickly.  With a bumper crop of students in Summer School, we are anticipating a large group of superstars in the Fall. We are having fun and hope you are too.

Bells are Ringing at the Citron Campus

What happens when 2, 3, 4 and 5 year old students sing holiday songs to bikers?  Magic, that's what!  On Friday morning, December 14, at 9:30, the Citron students will be singing their little hearts out for the Orange County Harley Owners Group.  After which, the Harley riders will gather all of the unwrapped gifts that the children have collected and will take the gifts to the Children's Hospital of Orange County. An additional performance will also be held on Thursday @ 9:30.
